Once the advertisement has been planned and created, it is important to test its effectiveness before publication.  If it does not satisfy all four of the below criteria referred to as AIDA then start again.

Does it capture ATTENTION?

Has the headline grabbed the reader’s attention?  If so, then you must now create some interest…

Does it create INTEREST?

In order to create interest, use all features, advantages and benefits of your product/service.  Once you have generated some interest, you must then make the customer desire your product/services…

Does it arouse a DESIRE?

Show the customers what they will be gaining by using it, let them know what they will be missing out on if they don’t and paint a ‘word ‘picture of how it will feel to be using it.  Then get action…

Does it lead to ACTION?

Your advertisement should not stop at the presentation – it must ask for the ‘order’.  It may not be an actual order, but some form of response, such as a request for a brochure, or a visit to your store.  It may be worthwhile offering a free gift to entice action!
